Key Findings from the Report

The B2B citation gap is real and measurable. Across 20 B2B industrial keywords tested against 7 AI search engines (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek), only 4.3% of cited domains overlapped with Google's top 10 organic results. This means traditional SEO rankings do not translate to AI search visibility — a separate GEO strategy is required.

73% of B2B buyers use AI for vendor research

And 69% have switched vendors based on an AI recommendation. Among those, 33% bought from a brand they had never heard of before the AI suggestion. Brand recognition is no longer a prerequisite for a sale.

GEO drives 4.4× to 6.0× higher conversion

Compared to traditional SEO landing pages, content optimized for AI search generates significantly higher conversion rates. The mechanism: AI users arrive with purchase intent and trust the AI's recommendation, reducing the consideration cycle.

The market is projected to grow from $8.9B (2024) to $73.2B (2031)

98% of enterprise leaders surveyed report that they are investing in AI search optimization. Yet 78% of marketers have no formal GEO strategy in place. The window for first-mover advantage is open — but closing as more companies allocate budget.

What drives AI citation authority

Peer-reviewed KDD 2024 research found three content strategies that measurably increase AI citation rates: authoritative citations (+40.2%), statistical claims with named sources (+33.5%), and direct quotes from subject matter experts (+34.7%). The report applies these findings to a practical 3-phase GEO playbook with timelines, budgets, and measurable KPIs for each phase.
